Highlighted Features - Released Aug 2, 2007 (click on the links to see a demo of each feature)
> Workspace Demo - (18 min) Many of our recent enhancements have been focused on Workspaces as we stay ahead in responding to customer requests and strive to improve workflow processes. It's quite exciting what we have accomplished: > External View so you can see what it looks like before sharing with a client or external users. > Add a new folder on the fly when adding or importing a new document. > Reorganize a Workspace for administrators to restore a workspace layout from the original template. And check out our industry-leading setup feature > Auto folder organization which automates the creation of folders within a new Workspace for existing documents matching a Profile attribute, e.g. Document Type. All documents that meet that profile attribute will be grouped in a common folder. Now that's automation! We're just doing our thing to make your life easier!!

> Are you a Profile Template Fan? Go import a document and you'll now see your Profile templates on the import page right below the folder/workstation list. Idea! For those of you who use Author as a custom profile field, make that a template and it can default each time you add a document, thus eliminating one more Profile entry. Keep on streamlining ...

> What a drag. On a folder page, you can now drag documents into a NetBinder. This simple feature saves TIME!

Send alerts via RSS. What is an RSS you ask? "Really Simple Syndication." Okay that's a mouthful. Basically its a format to keep you informed of the latest content from web sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually such as blogs, news sites, and now you can include alerts from NetDocuments. Go to a document, NetBinder or folder Options>Edit Alerts. Select RSS instead of email. There is a URL (our NetDocuments feeds link) you just need to add once to your RSS reader.

Summer of SaaS

"This summer will be remembered in the high-tech industry as the season when software as a service moved to the forefront," said Eric Lundquist, Editor in Chief of eWEEK. "The service advantages of software as a service are too good to ignore—even by Microsoft."

If you can build an application more quickly, less expensively, more securely and more precisely attuned to your company's business goals, it's tough to continue to say no [to SaaS]. That, I'd argue, is where the industry is now with SaaS."   Read Entire News Article.

The Value of NetDocuments Workspaces

Today's business organization makes extensive use of the word "teams" or "project teams." Many of the activities of these organizations benefit from a team approach where there is real value in bringing together a number of people with specific skills, knowledge and competencies to work on a common matter.

NetDocuments Workspaces are designed to allow your team members (including external clients and associates) to 1) quickly access information in a common space, 2) help share information "in confidence" with security-rich storage and controls not lost as employees move about; 3) Extend collaboration across geographic locations to share information with and leverage teams from across the globe to achieve optimal results. 4) Help increase confidence in decision-making; and 5) Help organize communities of employees, partners, and customers to innovate and drive growth in the business.

Additionally, a tremendous value of Workspaces is the automatic way workspaces can be created and setup for the organization's users. Once the Workspace templates are designed and tagged to a specific metadata field, such as "Project", "Client", "Matter", etc., then Workspaces get dynamically created for the clients or matters that you have, scaling to hundreds and thousands. Let's Mashup - No longer just for Potatoes
Definition: In the online world of Web 2.0 technology, a mashup is a website or a web application which combines content from more than one source. Today there are hundreds of examples of mashups out there: A site may use FedEx's APIs or code to display the ability to enter a FedEx tracking number and we all have seen a Google map displayed on another web site. NetDocuments has recently integrated with Salesforce.com by supporting their mashup technology named "S-Controls" allowing a Salesforce.com user to display NetDocuments search results of documents specifically for a customer. How about a web-based time entry application exposed within NetDocuments to enter time once you've worked on that client matter?

NetDocuments has entered the Mashup world by offering its users the ability to easily add another website or web application within a Workspace. This provides you an open, creative environment within a Workspace to deliver content that is relevant to your goals as an organization. View a Mashup example in a Workspace. We have even exposed code which can be merged into the URL to that web site, such as your custom profile field values, current user's email address, username, etc. Give it a try. If you have implemented Workspaces, go to a workspace, then select Workspace menu tab, then "Add web page."

What type of web application would be of interest to you? Would you want NetDocuments to support Google gadgets, Microsoft Live Gallery, Yahoo, etc., as well as simply ensuring we support any specific third-party applications? Let us know by email.
